Ho Chi Minh City
The capital of Vietnam in the south of this beautiful and diverse country. Also the area where you can see and find a lot about the Vietnamese war so for all the history lovers, this is the place to be for you. Ho Chi Minh is a huge city full of musea, shops, restaurants and sightseeing opportunities.
War Remnants Museum
You can definitely find a lot of history in Ho Chi Minh City and one of the places to learn and see more about the Vietnamese war is the War Remnants Museum. This museum is all about the Vietnamese war, which countries where involved and you will see a lot of pictures from that time. Just prepare yourself a bit because the images are horrifying. The price for entering the museum is only 20.000 dong which is around 80 eurocents and with all the different rooms they have you can easily spend 1,5 till 2 hours here. Outside they also have a lot of planes, helicopters, tanks and other vehicles from that time.

Cu Chi Tunnels
For everyone that is interested in the history of Vietnam, which I think should be part of every travel to every country, should visit the Cu Chi tunnels. It is the area where more then 12.000 Vietnamese people lived under the ground. Here you can find out how they lived there, how they tricked the Americans and all the smart innovations they had to survive. Try out one of the tunnels yourself and see how hard or easy it is to go through one and eat what they ate during the war. There is also an opportunity to shoot at a shooting range if you would like to try that out, this is not included in the tour so you have to pay for 10 bullets. I shared my 10 bullets with another guy so it was affordable but it is around 40 euros for 10 bullets.

During the tour you are also going to a little town where all children with disabilities are taken in and cared for by the government. During the war the Americans used a lot of poisoned/toxic gas which made sure that people not only died but in case they survived the chance of having children with disabilities was nearly 100%. Unfortunately this is still affecting Vietnam. In this little village the people that live there are making the most beautiful artwork which you can buy.

The price for the tour is 18 USD.
Vy Da Central Market Hostel
Literally in the middle of the centre of Ho Chi Minh City you can find Vy Da central market hostel. It is a nice, comfortable and modern hostel with wide single beds. There is a common area to meet more people or where you can work and the showers are amazing. Unfortunately I only stayed for 1 night but it is definitely recommended. The staff is extremely friendly and can arrange everything for you. Don't book your tour to the Cu Chi tunnels here, you can find that cheaper just around the corner but everything else is wonderfully arranged. You can store your luggage here as well if you are to early or if you take a night bus later that day so you are free to go where ever you like. The price for one night is only 5 euros and so worth it.
