Pangkor

Want to dream away on an island with white beaches and a beautiful blue ocean? Want to escape the mass tourism and feel like a local? Then Pangkor is definitely the place to be.

Sunset watching

There are two places on the island that are perfect for watching the sunset. Both perfect white beaches and all the locals love to enjoy it as well. You can go to Coral beach or to Teluk Nipah beach. The best thing is deciding what you would like to eat after watching the sunset, do you prefer Thai food or do you prefer western/local food. For the Thai food place you can go to Teluk Nipah beach and for the local/western food you can go to Coral Beach. Either way you will definitely enjoy the sunset from both beaches.

Daddy's cafe

Looking for a nice cafe for lunch or dinner, then Daddy's cafe is your place to be. From local to western food, there are plenty of choices. The people don't speak very well English here so ordering your food can be a bit tricky. We got a Banana split instead of the chocolate brownie and I had to order my ice tea 4 times but in the end everything tasted very well and they made sure we left as happy customers.

Rent a scooter

One of the nicest thing to do on the island is to rent a scooter. It will cool you down when you are driving and you can see the whole island is just 3 hours. We went with the scooter first to the south of the island and visited the Dutch fort and the floating mosque. Then we started to drive up north and we visited the Indian temple which is located on your right side and is really colorful. Just be prepared, you are not allowed to wear your shoes there and the pavement is really hot, so start running for it. After the temple we visited some view points/towers which are spread out over the island. We of course went by scooter to Coral beach and we visited Teluk Nipah for some small shopping. This is also the area where you can find the Hornbill birds, so definitely have a look there at the end of the day. The scooter is easy for having dinner somewhere and go to the good places for sunset watching.

Coral Beach

One of the most beautiful beaches on Pangkor Island is Coral Beach. The water is bright blue, the beach is perfect white and the best thing of all, barely any tourists or locals so you almost have a private beach! The beach is compared to the other beaches on the island completely free of plastic which made it so much more pleasant. You can rent a day bed or just lay your towel somewhere around. The only thing that the beach lacks is the shade part. It is hard to find enough shade. But if you don't burn quickly you should definitely enjoy this beach to the fullest. Ooh and if you love some nice swings that swing you over the beach then this is perfect for you. Enjoy!
