Koh Samui
Koh Samui is a more low key island and is on the east side of Thailand. It is a nice place to relax, go to the beach and drive around with a scooter. Here you can find out which places are nice to visit on Koh Samui.
What to do on Koh Samui?
The easiest and cheapest way to get around on Koh Samui is to rent a scooter. They don't have grab and the taxi's are really expensive. When you have a scooter you are free to go around the island so you can visit some of the following things. Fishermans village is really nice to just go around. They have these small shops everywhere and enough options for something to drink or eat. In the afternoon there is also a market for food and souvenirs. When you go around you can find a lot of different temples and buddha's. So you can visit Wat Plai Laem temple, the big buddha temple or the mummified monk. Besides that you can go around and visit some waterfalls and the Tarnim magic garden.
Pig Island
Pig island is a small island just under Koh Samui and you can reach it with a taxi boat or going on a tour. On this cute little island a lot of pigs are running around and welcoming you to their home. You can pet and cuddle with the pigs, have a nice lunch here at the restaurant or a few drinks, you can swim and snorkel in the blue and clear ocean or if you like to relax you can do some sunbathing. I went on a day tour and left just across the street of my hostel with a big boat. The boat ride was about 40 minutes and first we went to a snorkeling place. After that we arrived at pig island where we had around 3 hours of free time for pig cuddling, kayaking, swimming and having something to drink. Around 12.00h they prepared our lunch of different types of Currys, rice and vegetables. and around 13.30h we went back to the boat and headed back to Koh Samui. It was a nice day trip and for me enough time to spend on pig island but if you would like to arrange everything yourself just drive down to Thong Krut Pier and find yourself a long tail boat would love to bring you there. It is cheaper then a tour and you can decide when you would like to go back.
P&T Hostel
P&T Hostel is a great place to stay when you are visiting Koh Samui. The bed rooms are basic but that comes with great prices, it is still clean and every room has its own bathroom. The best thing about this place is the staff! They took care of me with my sunburn and cut fresh Aloe Vera and covert my body in it. They also checked in with every one and loved to make jokes. They rent scooters there and you can book your boat trip or day tour with them. Another great thing about P&T Hostel is that they have their own restaurant where you can have happy hour meals the whole day. This means full meals for only 60 bath this is around €1,60. Perfect for saving money and still having delicious and divers food options.
